Ever since I discovered the “Where the Wild Things Are” forts about 4 years ago I have always wanted to make one!(http://www.booooooom.com/2009/10/15/wild-things-forts-winners/, there’s loads of them, seriously go have a look)The competition asked people to create a fort – just like when they were a kid – and send in the results. Most are made from old sheets, cushions, fairy lights and other random objects making each personal to it’s creator. I really loved the fact that it was encouraging people to get involved and make their own piece of artwork and also, and most importantly, that it was fun! When we were given the chance to create something in the studio, and Joy mentioned she had boxes, i suggested we make a fort. After showing her the “Where the Wild Things Are” forts page she loved the idea too and the rest is history – not really. Originally i wanted to create the fort and let people come and interact with it however as we were setting it up I realised that our classmates could help us create it. This was all good in theory until only two other people showed up to the class. Maybe next time I should let them know their participation is required in advance!

Here are a selection of the photos I took in the studio today.
